To be able to apply for the position of Enforcement Agent with the Investigative Unit you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- 21 years old at the time of testing
- High school graduate or have obtained a G.E.D.
- Completion of undergraduate core program in criminology or related social or behavioral science, OR completion of associate core program in criminal justice, criminology, police science, law enforcement or related field, OR 18 months of sworn peace officer experience (3000 hours). Time in the U.S. military in a law enforcement position is recognized. The Attorney General’s office has advised that work as a corrections officer does not constitute law enforcement experience.
- One month’s experience in some form of public relations
- Valid driver’s license
- Vision – If not already 20/20 must be corrected to 20/20 – no worse than 20/125 uncorrected in either eye. Moderate color vision is required. Vision Specialist Document (if applicable)
- Hearing – Uncorrected standard - Must be able to perceive a stimulus within the frequency range of 500 (Hz) to 3000 (Hz) at a tone not to exceed 30 (db).
Automatic disqualifier – A felony conviction
Prior to employment, you must pass a physical fitness, polygraph, psychological and medical examination. A comprehensive background check will also be completed.
